With the help and support she received from the Hand of Hope children's home in Luang Pabang, eleven year old Mimi saw firsthand a huge improvement in her health, education and ultimately her childhood.
Mimi* stayed with her family of eight in Jompet city, Laos. Unable to find employment, her parents decided to make a living selling the rice they grew on the mountainside near their home. When the children returned home from a long day at school, they would only find out that there was still much work to be done.
Soon the stress of work became clear to Mimi's parents and they were forced to ask her and her two sisters to drop out of school and help in the rice fields. The very thought of leaving school broke Mimi's heart but she knew that her parents needed her.
Mimi began walk 12 kilometers in the mountains to reach the fields and back every day. She understood that her parents could no longer support the whole family so she worked even harder. This wore her out but one fortunate day Mimi discovered the Joyce Meyer Ministries Children's Home in the village.
Her parents were pleased when they heard that the Children's Home would take care of Mimi so they agreed that she should live in the home. And just like that Mimi was once again living the life she loved so much. She always believed she could excel in her studies and achieve many great things in life. Thanks to the Hand of Hope Children's Home, she can.
