Delirious Report

A first-hand report of the Delirious-Live in Concert experience at Bangalore. Find out how FIVE MEN IN WHITE painted the town RED….

…..5 men in white !!!!

Paint the town RED

A seven minute silence in Palace Grounds, Bangalore, India….!!!! very bizarre… But those seven minutes had the hearts of more than 8000 people waiting in bated breath. And then they watch a guy in a black T-shirt [guess the sound guy !!!] with a drum stick in his hand, literally pounding all the monitors and microphones, checking and re-checking if everything was right for 5 men to take their permissible place, a place which the Lord really crafted for them. Around 7: 50 pm … finally the moment, when the lights went dim and there in the background you hear a siren and you know its Delirious!!! It was arguably the most memorable moment for most of us to watch these 5 ambassadors for CHRIST who contributed tunes like 'MAJESTY' and 'GLORIOUS' to the modern church take center stage on that windy evening of January, 07. Thousands of people on their feet – looking and anticipating… and the band make a white suit entry, take a bow.

And from then on we know it was GOD all the way who used these 5 guys dressed in white, [I think Stew Smith on the drums did not have a sleeve] to remind Bangalore that JESUS is real and He is calling out for people who would go for HIM and who would never enervate to paint India and the World red with the blood of JESUS CHRIST. Had they been a secular band, they would have given the others a run for their billboards cause as truly as they were playing for the glory of God; they did it skillfully for the HIM … Psalm 33: 3. Their music and Martin with that venerable voice needs an adjective to describe it. I think “awesome” is the closest.Even more splendid was their song – Miracle Maker! Amidst a rock concert, with the serenity and respect that is due, he opens the pages of the Bible and reads out the story of the man healed by the pool of Bethesda. Hands lifted high, hands reaching out, we were lost, staring at the face of the Miracle Maker.

That song came with some electricity, I must say. I can never forget that experience. That electricity was present throughout…and it was the presence of the living God which was right there from the very first song because that song almost created a dictum among the young and old, when you could hear them shout to God saying “ Here I am send ME….” And to the nations we will go declaring that “God - is bigger than - the AIR we breathe - and the world we live..."

- Sam Theopylus, an ardent Delirious fan who drove down from Hyderabad to catch 'em live in Bangalore.
