Struggles backed by mass Naxal activism have forced the citizens of Chhattisgarh and Orissa to leave their state of residence in the pursuit of peace, livelihood and security from the guerilla rebels such as the Maoists. It is reported that a total of 150,000 people have migrated to the border districts of Andhra Pradesh.

Khammam is one of the districts from Andhra Pradesh that has a majority of immigrants from the above mentioned states. Most of the immigrants belong to backward classes (in rural India, caste system is still a societal virus).

Adivasis, an indigenous sect of people that are primarily forest dwellers, hunters and agricultural workers take refuge in the backwoods of Khammam. They live in thatched huts without electricity, clean drinking water and medical facilities amidst starvation and isolation.

Through the Ashirwaad Feeding program, we drove through the jungles of Khammam and have been able to conduct a special day of outreach for the Adivasis in July. We were able to provide a free meal to thousands of people. It is not usual for these immigrants to be served in this fashion. The very fact that they were identified by the JMM Ashirwaad program is a matter of great delight. It made a huge difference in their life. They felt invited and accepted through this act of kindness by Joyce Meyer Ministries.

At Joyce Meyer Ministries we value the support of our friends and partners; through you, we are able to serve a meal to the forest dwellers of Khammam. Please continue to pray for peace to be restored in Orissa and Chhattisgarh. Pray for the government to crackdown the terror marked by Naxalism.
