The warmth of the afternoon sun ushered in the beautiful feel of the Hand of Hope medical camp at the Joyce Meyer Ministries campus. After the many cold nights in and around the area the Hand of Hope team of medical staff once again had the opportunity to tend to both the young and old. Most of the people who arrived at the medical camp are locals from the area - ranging from toddlers to veterans.

The seasonal flu was the principal complaint of the day. Children, including infants, were sick with common colds due to a drop in the temperature. These little ones were accompanied by their mothers and, though a little hesitant see a doctor at first, cooperated with the staff and were glad when they saw the gratitude and relief on their mothers' faces.

Some of the patients had diabetes and a few of the elderly were present to get their routine diabetic checkups. Most of the other people who arrived were suffering from malnutrition which further caused severe body pains, predominantly among the older patients.

The people who reside near the camp are daily wage workers without thorough knowledge about health and nutrition, but that's where the Hand of Hope team of medics stepped in to give special care. Their treatment ensured that each patient received the right medication and were given follow-up instructions for further treatment in local hospitals.

Above all, the patients were shown love. This is the driving reason that news about the medical camp spread so far and wide to bring in new people by the dozens. Thanks to the warm hearted nature of the Hand of Hope doctors, even the security guard felt the need to get a checkup! Just another day of reaching out a helping hand of hope.
