In the afternoon after school, many more children arrived at the medical camp, still in their school uniforms. Recognizing this wonderful opportunity, the medical team decided to teach them about health and the environment. Holding an interesting and enjoyable counseling program, the Hand of Hope team showed the children how to wash their hands properly and explained the proper use of restrooms. The children were also taught good nutritional standards and the types of fresh food that are good for them to eat. Each child drank a healthy glass of milk and was given a pack of biscuits and a strip of vitamins to take home. Their parents were also encouraged to attend so they could learn about disease prevention and environment pollution. Back at the medical camp, examinations continued and each patient had their turn to be examined by the Hand of Hope team of experienced doctors. Most people suffered from degenerative diseases (heart disease, diabetes, infectious respiratory tracts) and were given the right medicine and instructions for treatment.
Toward the evening, the Hand of Hope team was ready to pack their medical bags and boxes of medicine. Hundreds of parents and children had their physical health examined and satisfaction was seen on the faces of all.
Partners, you enable us to serve hundreds of people in each medical camp who otherwise would not have access to medical care. Thank you for your support to Hand of Hope’s Medical Missions to Indonesia.
