Joyce Meyer inaugurates the Child Transformation Center

“Many have come and promised us hope, but Joyce Meyer Ministries is the first organization to actually provide a home for us,” said Kumari, one of the beneficiary’s mother. More than 60 such children of commercial sex workers(CSW) who attend our Prem Kiran feeding center in Bhandup will move to the transformation center in less than a month. It was celebration time even as Joyce inaugurated the Child Transformation Center at Bhadlapur amidst singing and dancing. Girls in white frocks with flowers escorted Joyce and Dave Meyer from the gate to the stage where the inaugural program was being held. Joining and partnering with us on this joyous occasion were actor Johny Lever and Pastor Shekar Kalyanpur , Rev. Scott Norling among others.

The center spanning around 10,000 square feet is spacious and green, surrounded by hills on the right side. It presently has three cottages, which can accommodate 20 kids each. The other cottages are the administrative block, chapel and a prayer hall. Speaking at the program, Joyce said “This is a transformation center, and the word transform means to completely change. Even I was mistreated in my childhood, but Jesus transformed me. He will transform you also, if you let Him.” Talking about what motivated her to start the center, she said “Jesus loved to help people, and He went about doing good, and that’s what we are trying to do – help as many people as we can on this earth.” She later encouraged them to help one another.

“It could be just lifting up a friend when he/she is down, sharing food,” she added amidst loud applause by the parents and children. Wondering why JMM would take up the cause of strangers and help them? Listen from Dave Meyer who so beautifully put it, when he said, “Why are we doing this? We are not expecting anything in return. We are helping you because it is God’s command to us to help. It is our joy to see children set free from bondages that they might have been trapped in since years. It is God’s will for you to be free. We are just obeying God.”

There were no better parting words to take home than Sanjay Patel’s (a beneficiary) small speech before Joyce left the place. “We have come from a downtrodden lifestyle, but today the Lord has lifted us from there and brought us here. We promise to change ourselves and change our lifestyle,” he said at the closing of the program.
