Joyce Meyer: How we can walk in the Power and Authority God has given us!
Scripture portions: 2 Cor 10, Eph 6
Use the weapons and wear the armor God has given you:
- The Name of Jesus: The name of Jesus is what causes God to listen to us. It is the name above all names which can defeat the devil.
- The Word of God: Even Jesus opened his mouth and asked Satan to get behind Him. We talk a lot, but not what we are supposed to. Use the weapon of the Word of God. When the devil tells you what you’re not, tell him who he is according to the Word. It’s not enough to have the Word. You have to speak it out loud.
- The Blood: Every morning I cover my life, my husband, my ministry partners, my mind, body and soul with the blood of Jesus. Pray the blood of Jesus over your life.
- Worship wins the war (ex: Jehoshaphat) Don’t worry, but worship. It is important to always have a song in your heart.
- Wearing the Armor of God: The devil can’t see the armor if you don’t put it on.
Tighten the belt of truth – believe the truth of God during crisis
Breastplate of righteousness – know who you are in Christ
Shoes of peace – choose not to put on worry and turmoil, but put on the shoes of peace and walk in peace.
Shield of faith and Sword of the Spirit – Resist the devil on the onset itself. Speak scriptures to yourself immediately when you start to feel low or discouraged.
- Most Christians are lazy – we do not want to speak back to the devil. We must be prepared and planned like the five wise virgins who went the extra mile. Stay active and engaged, passionate and full of zeal.
- You don’t have the luxury of living according to what you feel like.
We need to be like soldiers, alert and on guard.
Power of the Holy Spirit – power to be witnesses.
- You have a supernatural energy to do things when you are filled with the Holy Spirit. Be full of the Spirit. Don’t be satisfied with little, when you can get full.
- Don’t be ignorant of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, especially the gift of tongues which edifies you. When you do not know what to pray, praying in tongues is the perfect prayer you can make.
- We have God-given authority to command the devil to leave us when he torments us. The devil has power, but no authority. Jesus disarmed the devil, and armed you and me with the Spirit and with the gifts of the Spirit. He transferred all power to us.
- I pray like Paul did in Ephesians chapter one – that you know that power is yours.
Say it loud – The power of the Holy Spirit is in me!

The second day’s morning conference was like having a full healthy spiritual meal. When you go to a multi-cuisine restaurant, you get the best of all types. That’s exactly what it was like!

After an amazing time of worship, Darlene took over on a powerful session about truthful worship and what it involves. She talked about what it means to worship God in truth – honesty and integrity; a heart of worship; not about performance but pleasing God; worship is service and love. She shared her story – she became a true worshipper at the age of 15 years, when she learnt for herself, the heart of a worshipper.
The break between sessions saw Anil Kanth and his wife minister with their famous song Padke Kalaam Dekhlo. Joyce spoke powerfully on forgiveness, and how Jesus taught her to forgive and love her parents by walking and acting in love. Forgiveness, she said was one of the keys to enjoying everyday life.
“Don’t be a victim of unforgiveness. Learn to love – it will melt the hardest of hearts. God enables us to do what we need to do. Are you ready for joy you’ve never known? Then forgive. The greatest thing you can do for yourself is help your enemies succeed.”
Everyone knows by now what Brian’s opening statement is for all sessions– ‘Indians love Australians, and Australians love Indians,’ though both are right now playing cricket. Despite who wins, we love each other. And this always gets the crowd going. He hit the right button – cricket! Brian spoke on how we can overcome negativity. Negativity nullifies the work of the Holy Spirit. One of the best ways to overcome negativity is to speak words of praise – ‘I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise is continually on my lips.’
The last session saw Paul Scanlon speaking with conviction backed with experience about ‘having a heart for the lost.’ It’s not about you, it’s about others. We forget the essence of why Jesus came – He came to seek and save the lost. The church has become insensitive to the lost. His church started picking people in buses from streets and bringing them to the church. It created an uproar among few (the church mafia, he called them) who wanted the ‘swearing smokers’, the ‘sinners’ out of the church. But he was not afraid of losing them, since they were not designed to walk with the church’s vision to the end. “I don’t fear losing 100s to gain 1000s,” he said. Pastors need to have a heart to save the lost like the gardener in the parable, who begged for one more year from the owner to ensure a particular non-fruit bearing tree bears fruit.
Day - 1 Conference
Prov 10:11, 32 - The mouth of the righteous is a well of life, feeds many, and knows what is acceptable.
But most times we use it to express words of negativity. We must be able to express words of life.
A negative person is always ruled by what might happen, is expressing anxiety and hopelessness
- Negativity is the indication of inner defeat.
Mat 12: 34- Negative words – reflects what’s in the heart.
Change the condition of the heart to change the words. Negativity looks for reasons outside. Negative speaking is always a sign of what’s going on inside. If your heart is in good condition, even in the worst of circumstances and difficult situations, you will be able to speak words of life
- Negativity always justifies itself, excuses itself, and finds a reason for its existence.
A negative person will justify what he feel s. He can excuse the way he thinks or speaks. But the Lord
weighs the spirit.
When we speak negative out of an excuse that feels right, it brings death to the will of God, death to faith, death to hope and peace.
A negative person will always point to the one who did not get healed, always leans on experiences
- Don’t bring down your belief to the level of your experience. Lift your experience up to the level of your belief
- Live it by the Word of God.
- Negativity chooses our friends for us.
It decides our relationships. Prov 13: 20 (Companion of fools will be destroyed.)
Negative people cannot stand being around positive people. They see them as superficial people (Prov 18: 1)
They see things that are not there. They see things in people that are not there.
Negativity distorts the truth. Feed on the word of God. Live on His Word .
- Negativity makes harsh judgments and sweeping statements.
Ex: King David’s dance judged by his wife. (II Sam 16: 20)
They judge other’s motives, they make sweeping assumptions
Ex: Parents see mistakes in their children, not potential
Praise is nothing but WORDS OF LIFE Live in LIFE .
- Every healthy adult still needs to have a child in him- so he can enjoy life! It’s God’s will that you enjoy life. Children trust easily, forgive easily. If we’re going to have joy, we need to have enjoyment. Not just in the church, but at home and every time and everywhere.
- Most of us spiritualize the fruit of joy. Ask most Christians how they’re doing, they say – Blessed and highly favored, but check their life- they’re upset most of the time.
- The Joy of the Lord is my strength – Am I really enjoying my life?
Ask yourself – did I enjoy this day? Well, you did not enjoy because you did not choose to enjoy this day.
Philippians 4: 4 says, “Rejoice in the Lord and again I say rejoice.”
SECRETS TO ENJOYING LIFE
- Secret 1 to enjoying life:
In vs. 5 – Recognize your unselfishness . Selfish people are not happy people. God taught me to stop
Giving the responsibility of my joy to my husband. Choose to enjoy in midst of trouble. I’ve learnt that.
I don’t have time to waste – don’t waste one more day being depressed, being all down.
On purpose, I decide to make others happy, and in the midst of that, I keep getting happier and happier
Secret system – a kingdom secret that the world does not know is this – you only get back what you give away. So give away love.
- 2nd secret: Don’t worry, don’t have anxiety about anything.
Worry steals our joy. It steals today’s grace.
Rom 15:13 – says joy and peace are found in believing, in child-like faith. Don’t worry about what you’ll do tomorrow.
God called me to preach at 32. Suddenly, when I least expected it, when I was making my bed, listening to a teaching-I sensed the power on the speaker’s life..a desire jumped in my heart –so strong it changed my life. Changed everything in my life – changed me
God told me right there – You will go all over the world and teach my Word.
There was no way I could it, except one way – the only Way – Jesus is the way!
Many Christians are so religious that they cannot enjoy anything. Follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, not just rules.
Vs 8 – teaches us how we need to think. I choose what I think. I learnt that most of the time, I was talking myself into problems. Be careful what you think and say.
Phil 4:9 made me stop and think. Paul asks them to practice what he does. ‘Model me,’ he said.
We need to live the life, not just preach it. We need to show people what we’ve got – real peace and joy.
- I urge you today, to make a decision, to either be a real Christian or just don’t bother about it.
- Home work – give the devil a nervous breakdown, wage war against him by staying so happy he can’t stand to be around you.
Your dream can be in your heart, but if it’s not in your head, it will never get into your hands
- Many people are full of broken dreams . A dream will not become a reality without a plan
The greatest missing link between dream and reality is a missing plan.
Many question whether their dream was from God, or they are fighting to keep it alive or downsize it or totally scrap it.
- Your dream can be in your heart, but if its not in your head, it will never get into your hands
- Example of Joseph’s dreams becoming a reality.Gen 41: 33- the plan seemed good to Pharoah and his officials. THE PLAN SEEMED GOOD. The dominion, the promotion was in the plan, not in the dream. Joseph proposed a 14-year economic plan which actually caught Pharaoh’s attention.
- Get a plan ready – it might mean to get relationships right, to start doing the right thing, to learn good manners, to be punctual, and so on.
- Stop dreaming about a revival, be a revival. Plans create responsibility – they make you get up and go somewhere, and force you to make new decisions. When your dream seems to be dying out, your plan will still remain. When a dream comes under pressure, a plan will keep you going anyway.
- Solomon gave us the number one reason why plans fail in Prov 15:22 – plans fail for lack of counsel not lack of ability, or excitement, but lack of wisdom and advice. Start being around smart people. You need good advisers. Prov 24:6
- Difference between seeking counsel and seeking approval. You seek approval when you’ve already decided what you do.
Don’t give up on your dream and your plan. Keep going on. Don’t give up.
