A Hand of Mercy
Priyani lives in a thatched-roof hut in rural and underdeveloped Erikkarai, near Chennai. Eleven years old and in poverty, Priyani does not go to school.
Her parents are agricultural daily wage laborers and as such they have no guarantee of long-term employment. With no one at home to watch them, children like Priyani drop out of school, start working odd jobs, and some fall into alcoholism and other social evils.
Priyani always dreamed of studying and being successful. After her mother learned of the Hand of Hope feeding program, she sent her to the Feeding Center to receive nutritious food and learn how to read.
Priyani was bright-eyed as she entered the Feeding Center. She now eats a delicious and nutritious meal every day with her new friends, and is learning how to read and write. She is now filled with the hope of finally being able to achieve her dreams, thanks to the Hand of Hope Feeding Center.
