Miraj, Maharashtra is a town known for its rich tradition of Hindustani classical music and religious harmony. Miraj is the place where one can get the finest of the Indian String instruments such as Sitar, Sarod and Tanpura. These are made of wood and specially treated gourds. This art was pioneered by Faridsaheb Sitarmaker in 18th century AD and is still practiced by his descendants.
For the band, traveling by road with the gear was tiring. But we had fun all the way figuring out ways to keep ‘the man on the wheel’ awake! It was an ‘exciting’ ride! We entered the city early in the morning and saw the concerts’ billboard which indicated that we had almost reached our hotel.
On our arrival we met Pastor Bhaskar, the man who helped set up the event, and the rest of the crew. It was such a blessing meeting the guys behind so much of the on-location work! After saying our how-do-you-do’s we managed to check into our hotel rooms to catch up with some sleep after the all-night journey.
The concert day was immensely exciting. This was the first time Miraj had ever put up a ticketed show and people bought tickets to experience a fresh Sound! Not much equipment was available with the sound reinforcement companies. Never-the-less, we tried our best to use the set-up given to us to the maximum.
We played two power packed, action filled nights and introduced some Desi tunes along with a few old numbers making sure that they enjoyed God’s presence. The place was filled with young dancers, worshippers, and pastors who joined the party in celebrating the King of Kings.
We were humbled to see many youngsters come up to the front, singing out loud to God and asking God for more creativity and quality to be presented in their own churches. Ps. Rufus spoke powerfully and emphasized on ‘True Worship’ all throughout the event urging the youth to make sure that they bring something ‘new’ and ‘fresh’ to their churches each Sunday! It’s time for the younger generation to rise up and find ways to make churches more interesting and presentable!
Sounds of the Nations appreciates the pastors for carrying the burden for their city. We are grateful to them for hosting a concert and helping the youth to get out of their shells and to think radically and learn to give their best for Christ! “This is the first ticketed show in Miraj and it has also proved to be the best gig that ever happened. We ran out of tickets the last day” said a pastor.
We are Humbled and excited for what God is doing and will do in the days to come. We hope that Miraj will carry the light of what they have learned throughout the Country, respect their local church and ignite their churches with the same passion we saw during the concert event.
