Thank You Joyce
My husband had a huge drinking problem; he would come home drunk almost every night and with it followed outbursts of physical and verbal abuses. Our children would take shelter in the neighboring houses to escape the mayhem. Our resistance would only worsen his temper. The idea of ‘peace’ seemed distant and unreal!
Family life was like a sea controlled by the wind, there was nobody to give us word of comfort or hope. Scared to talk with their father, my children would often sleep with a tear filled pillow. “Mom, when will our Papa stop drinking, why can’t we ask a Policeman to tell Papa to stop drinking”? These wounded words were uttered by our younger child.
People from the village suggested that I kill my husband and go to jail; they even suggested that I commit suicide along with the children. I heard too many negative voices but couldn’t find a positive solution to my problems and neither did I find a single person willing to hear me out.
One day I met an elder woman who was sitting next to me in the bus. We began to talk casually, and out of the blue, she asked me, “why is your face gloomy”? I was not able to give an answer, but told her that I was fine. But, she was adamant to know. I finally shared my woes with her. The woman herself was a victim of a similar family condition and was now living victoriously through Christ’s help.
The woman walked an extra mile for me; she came home that evening and shared with me the love of Christ and the victory that is found in Him. I had been a ‘Christian’ all my life but, didn’t know the value of confessing our sins and the importance of being born again. I gave my life to Jesus that night and began to pray earnestly for my husband’s change of heart. Very soon my husband gave up drinking and we as a family started attending a local church.
One Sunday morning during our worship time, a representative from Joyce Meyer Ministries came to our Church, he introduced Joyce’s programme, Enjoying Everyday Life. My husband showed a lot of interest and the very next day we got a cable connection to follow her teaching.
I would like to say that Joyce Meyer programme changed our entire family life; we’ve started to forgive each other, thanking each other and most importantly we’ve been encouraging each other in the Lord. Without ‘Enjoying Everyday Life’ we can’t really start our day.
We thank everyone who is helping us to watch this programme in Malayalam, we love you Joyce and are praying for you. You’ve touched our lives.
