The Hand of Hope Health Center in Cambodia is a special medical mission run by Joyce Meyer Ministries. People from the vicinity come to the hospital all year round for free medical treatment, fulfilling the vision of Joyce Meyer Ministries – to care for all with the love of Jesus Christ. The staff at the Health Center also makes sure to encourage their patients through prayer and to give them the Scriptures.
Sakngea* was one of the many who traveled to the Health Center earlier this year seeking medical attention. Sakngea and his wife make their living out of farming, but lately they've run into an array of financial problems, because of which Sakngea and his entire family had to sell away their field and home in Roleap, just to get by. Soon after, the family moved to a different location and purchased a new plot of land to grow their crops. But due to the scarcity of rainfall, the harvest wasn't enough to provide for Sakngea's family, including his children's education, and soon enough his three daughters had to drop out of school.
To add to his troubles, Sakngea fell very sick. His body started to swell out of exertion and the work and stress had taken its toll on him. With no funds to pay for treatment, Sakngea ignored his health issues but found he was just getting weaker and couldn't work. The added anxiety of not being able to support his family was a constant burden in his heart.
But one day, Sakngea's family told him about the Hand of Hope Health Center and its free treatment. So he made his way to the hospital where doctors and staff tended to both Sakngea and his wife. After examining and treating them, the staff even shared with them the Gospel and prayed with them for all their problems. Sakngea returned home that day not just feeling better physically, but in his heart and mind as well, which were at ease thanks to the light of Jesus that shone onto him from the Hand of Hope Health Center.
